The Schellerhau Botanical Garden, located near Altenberg in Saxony, Germany, was founded in 1906 by Gustav Adolf Poscharsky, who was the inspector of the Royal Botanical Garden of Dresden.

It was established as a private mountain flower garden on a plateau at an elevation of about 750 meters. The garden covers approximately 1.4 to 1.5 hectares and is known for its extensive collection of over 1,400 plant species grown outdoors.

These plants include species native to the Ore Mountains as well as alpine and mountainous flora from Europe, North America, Asia, and the Caucasus. The garden features natural biotopes like alpine meadows, rocky slopes, bog areas, and mixed forests, reflecting the diverse habitats of mountain plants.

It also includes a herb garden and a unique sound experience path called "Nature & Music," which integrates natural musical instruments into the landscape. The garden holds historical significance as one of the first botanical gardens of its type in the Ore Mountains and serves as an educational and recreational attraction for visitors interested in mountain flora and nature.​
