Schloß Dellmensingen
Erbach an der Donau, Germany, Germany
Schloß Dellmensingen in Dellmensingen, now part of Erbach an der Donau, Germany, is an early Baroque castle rebuilt between 1650 and 1685 by the noble Werdenstein family on the site of a dilapidated lower medieval castle after its destruction in the Thirty Years' War.
This three-story stone building with a saddle roof originally included stables, barns, a bakery, cowshed, and protective ring walls, later serving as housing for displaced persons post-World War II and a Caritas old age home from 1947 to 1967.
Today, its interiors with fine stucco ceilings house apartments and small business offices, while a chapel dedicated to Saint Joseph features period religious sculptures amid the scenic Upper Swabian landscape.
