Schloßberg is a small village and prominent hill near Heideck in Bavaria, Germany, known for the remains of the former Burg Heideck. The hill rises to about 607 meters and served as the site of a medieval castle that became the center of the Lords of Heideck’s territory after they moved there from Altenheideck around 1260–1270. The castle played an important role in the development of the region and was closely linked to the founding of the town of Heideck. Over time, however, it lost its importance, fell into decline, and was largely dismantled, with its stones reused elsewhere. Today, only earthworks, plateaus, and impressive defensive ditches remain. The Schloßberg area is now a popular destination for walking and hiking, offering scenic views over the surrounding countryside and lakes. Information boards and archaeological findings help visitors imagine the former castle that once stood on this strategically important hill.
