Schloss Amerang
Amerang, Germany, Germany
Schloss Amerang is a historic castle located near the village of Amerang in Bavaria, Germany. Perched on a steep rocky hill, its origins date back to the 11th century, when it began as a medieval fortress before being transformed into a Renaissance-style castle in the 16th century. One of its most distinctive features is its nearly circular layout, with around 40 rooms and virtually no right angles, as well as its elegant three-story arcaded courtyard, considered one of the earliest examples of Renaissance architecture in Bavaria. The castle has been the residence of the noble von Crailsheim family for almost two centuries and remains remarkably well preserved. Today, it serves as a cultural and hospitality venue, offering guided tours, concerts, events, hotel accommodations, and dining experiences, allowing visitors to explore nearly a thousand years of Bavarian history in a picturesque setting.
