Schloss Amerdingen
Amerdingen, Germany, Germany
Schloss Amerdingen is a grand Baroque palace in Amerdingen, Bavaria, and has been owned by the Counts Schenk von Stauffenberg since 1574. Earlier buildings on the site were destroyed during the German Peasants' War in 1525 and again during the Thirty Years’ War in 1634. The present palace was built between 1784 and 1798 under Johann Franz Schenk von Stauffenberg, based on designs associated with the renowned architect Franz Ignaz Michael Neumann. The castle is known for its elegant architecture, richly decorated interiors, and beautiful English landscape park, which includes a classical temple-like pavilion. It is closely connected to the Stauffenberg family, including Claus von Stauffenberg. Today, Schloss Amerdingen remains a privately owned family residence and an important cultural landmark in the region.
