Schloss Assumstadt
Möckmühl, Germany, Germany
Schloss Assumstadt is an elegant Baroque palace located in Assumstadt, a small settlement near Möckmühl in Baden-Württemberg.
The present palace was built from 1769 onward and is surrounded by an extensive landscaped park, making it one of the region’s most attractive historic estates. The palace was commissioned as a gift from Empress Maria Theresa of Austria to her military commander Karl Reinhard von Ellrichshausen, whose family had ruled the estate since the 17th century.
Its design was inspired by the grandeur of Vienna’s Schönbrunn Palace, with several architectural elements modeled after the famous imperial residence. Owned by the Waldburg-Wolfegg family since 1937, Schloss Assumstadt remains a well-preserved cultural landmark. Today it is known for its historic architecture, picturesque parkland, and use as a venue for weddings, cultural events, and other special occasions.
