Schloss Breitenlohe
Burghaslach, Germany, Germany
Schloss Breitenlohe is a historic Renaissance castle in the village of Breitenlohe, part of Burghaslach in Bavaria. Its origins go back to a medieval moated castle first mentioned in 1340. After the original stronghold was destroyed during the German Peasants’ War around 1525, the noble von Vestenberg family rebuilt it between 1569 and 1571 as the impressive four-wing Renaissance palace seen today. Over the centuries, the castle passed through several noble families and was partially redesigned in the Baroque style. The complex is known for its prominent corner towers, elegant historic interiors, and its picturesque setting in the Steigerwald region. Today, Schloss Breitenlohe is a privately owned architectural landmark and one of the largest historic castle complexes in the area.
