Schloss Büchold, also known as Burg Büchold, is a historic castle complex in the village of Büchold, now part of Arnstein in Bavaria. First mentioned in 1299, it began as a medieval hilltop castle associated with the Knights Hospitaller before passing to several noble families, including the Lords of Thüngen, who transformed it into an impressive Renaissance residence. The castle played an important role in regional history for centuries, but after the 18th century it gradually fell into decline and many of its Renaissance buildings were demolished. Today, the most notable surviving features are the round keep, sections of the defensive walls, and historic underground cellars. In recent years, the site has undergone extensive restoration, helping to preserve this important monument. Overlooking the surrounding countryside, Schloss Büchold remains a distinctive landmark that reflects the medieval and noble heritage of the Main-Spessart region.
