Schloss Bürgeln
Schliengen, Germany, Germany
Schloss Bürgeln is a picturesque Rococo-style castle perched at 665 meters above the village of Obereggenen in Schliengen, Baden-Württemberg, Germany, renowned as the "Pearl of the Markgräflerland" for its stunning views over vineyards, fields, and forests.
Built between 1762 and 1764 by architect Franz Anton Bagnato for the provost Aloysius Mader and St. Blasien Abbey, it replaced earlier medieval structures including an 11th-century chapel, evolving through fires, wars, and ownership changes before the Bürgeln-Bund association saved it from decay in 1920.
Today, the privately maintained landmark features ornate interiors like a porcelain room, library, and chapel, hosting guided tours, concerts, weddings, and hikes amid its scenic hilltop setting.
