Schloss Castell
Castell, Germany, Germany
Schloss Castell is a historic baroque palace in the village of Castell in Bavaria’s Franconian wine region and serves as the residence of the princely Castell-Castell family. Built between 1687 and 1691 on the site of an earlier estate, it replaced the medieval castles that once stood above the village and became one of the earliest baroque palace complexes in Franconia. The palace features an elegant three-wing design and is surrounded by a landscaped park that evolved from a formal baroque garden into an English-style landscape park during the 19th century. The grounds are known for their mature trees, scenic views, and historic garden architecture. Today, Schloss Castell remains closely associated with the House of Castell and its long regional history. Together with the surrounding park and renowned wine estates, it stands as one of the most important cultural and architectural landmarks in the Kitzingen district.
