Schloss Cronheim is a historic moated castle located in the village of Cronheim, part of Gunzenhausen in Bavaria, Germany. Its origins date back to the Middle Ages, when the site served as a fortified noble residence. Over time, the complex evolved from a medieval stronghold into a larger residential castle, with major rebuilding taking place during the 16th century. The castle passed through the hands of several noble families and ecclesiastical authorities over the centuries. Although parts of the original four-wing structure were later demolished, significant sections of the castle and traces of its moat have survived and remain protected as historical monuments. Today, Schloss Cronheim houses the AWO Therapy Center and the “Mikrokosmos Cronheim” museum, which explores the history and multicultural heritage of the village. The castle continues to be an important cultural landmark in the Franconian Lake District region.
