Schloss Doberlug is a magnificent Renaissance palace in Doberlug-Kirchhain, Brandenburg, whose origins date back to a Cistercian monastery founded in 1165.

After the monastery was dissolved in the 16th century, the site was transformed into a four-wing palace and later served as a hunting lodge and residence for Saxon rulers. Over the centuries, the palace played many roles, including a princely residence, administrative center, courthouse, prison, and military facility.

Its striking architecture reflects both Renaissance and early Baroque influences, making it one of the most important historic buildings in the region. Today, Schloss Doberlug is a restored cultural landmark and museum that hosts exhibitions, events, and guided tours. Together with the nearby former monastery church and refectory, it forms one of Brandenburg’s most impressive historic ensembles and offers visitors a fascinating insight into the region’s Saxon and Prussian heritage.
