Schloss Eschenbach is a historic water castle in the village of Eschenbach, part of Pommelsbrunn in Bavaria. Originally built around 1230 and surrounded by water for defense, it played an important role in the region’s medieval history and passed through the hands of several noble families before coming under the influence of Nuremberg in the early 15th century. The castle was destroyed during the Second Margrave War in the 16th century and rebuilt in 1554. Much of its present appearance dates from this reconstruction. Since 1508, the property has been closely associated with the Ebner von Eschenbach family, who have owned it for most of its later history. Today, Schloss Eschenbach is a protected cultural monument located between the Pegnitz and Hirschbach streams. Its preserved buildings and long history make it one of the notable historic castles of the Nürnberger Land region.
