Schloss Finsterwalde is a historic Renaissance castle complex in the center of Finsterwalde, Brandenburg.

Its origins date back to a medieval castle first documented in 1282, and parts of that earlier fortification are still incorporated into the present structure. The castle is divided into a Vorderschloss (front castle) and a Hinterschloss (rear castle), connected by a distinctive tower and bridge. Much of the castle’s current appearance was shaped during the 16th and early 17th centuries under noble families such as the von Dieskau family.

The rear section is particularly noted for its well-preserved Renaissance architecture, arcades, and historic courtyards. Today, Schloss Finsterwalde serves as the seat of the city administration and is surrounded by a park that is open to visitors. As one of the town’s most important landmarks, it reflects centuries of local history, from medieval stronghold to noble residence and civic center.
