Schloss Fronberg
Schwandorf, Germany, Germany
Schloss Fronberg is a historic castle in the Fronberg district of Schwandorf, Bavaria, with origins dating back to at least 1305.
Originally a medieval fortress, it was rebuilt several times after fires and wartime damage, gradually evolving into a Renaissance-style castle complex. Over the centuries, the estate belonged to a number of prominent noble families, including the von Spiering, von Künsberg, and von Breidbach-Bürresheim families.
The castle is particularly associated with Caroline von Holnstein, whose portrait was included in King Ludwig I of Bavaria’s famous Gallery of Beauties at Nymphenburg Palace. Today, Schloss Fronberg remains privately owned and is known for its attractive courtyard, Renaissance arcades, and picturesque setting.
