Schloss Geyern
Bergen, Germany, Germany
Schloss Geyern is a historic castle in the village of Geyern, part of Bergen in Bavaria, Germany. Its origins date back to a medieval castle from the 12th or 13th century that belonged to the Schenk von Geyern noble family, who have been closely associated with the site for centuries. The original fortress underwent numerous changes over time. Parts of the medieval complex were lost, and the present building was redesigned in a striking Neo-Gothic style around 1870, featuring corner towers, battlements, and elements of the earlier castle incorporated into the structure. Today, Schloss Geyern remains privately owned by descendants of the Schenk von Geyern family. Surrounded by parkland and historic grounds, it stands as an important cultural monument that reflects the region’s medieval and aristocratic heritage.
