Schloss Grombach
Bad Rappenau, Germany, Germany
Schloss Grombach is a historic castle in the Grombach district of Bad Rappenau, Baden-Württemberg.
Originally built as a moated castle in the 13th or 14th century by the local Lords of Grombach, it later passed to the noble families of Helmstatt, Ehrenberg, and Venningen. The castle was damaged during the Landshut War of Succession in 1504 and subsequently rebuilt and expanded. Its most distinctive surviving features include a medieval defensive tower, a Gothic residential building, sections of the old defensive wall, and later Baroque additions.
Today, Schloss Grombach remains privately owned and is one of the most important historic landmarks in the area. Although the original moat has disappeared, the castle still reflects its medieval origins and the long history of the noble families who shaped the region.
