Neuburg an der Donau, Germany, Germany

Schloss Grünau, also known as Jagdschloss Grünau, is a Renaissance hunting lodge located a few kilometers east of Neuburg an der Donau in Bavaria.

It was commissioned by the Wittelsbach ruler Ottheinrich beginning in 1530 as a residence and hunting retreat for his wife, Susanna of Bavaria, and was expanded into a larger palace complex around a central courtyard by 1555. Originally built as a moated castle, Schloss Grünau is notable for its well-preserved Renaissance architecture and historic interior layout.

The castle also contains important wall paintings associated with the artist Jörg Breu the Younger, reflecting the artistic ambitions of its noble owners. Today, the castle is owned by the Wittelsbach Compensation Fund and serves both cultural and educational purposes. It hosts events such as concerts and seasonal markets and is home to the Auenzentrum Neuburg, a center dedicated to research and conservation of the nearby Danube floodplains.
