Schloss Haigerloch
Haigerloch, Germany, Germany
Schloss Haigerloch in Haigerloch, Germany, originated as a medieval castle around 1200 built by the Counts of Hohenberg, later passing to the Hohenzollern family in 1497 and transformed into a Renaissance palace between 1580 and 1588 under Count Christoph von Hohenzollern-Haigerloch.
Featuring a spacious courtyard with period buildings like the Zehntscheuer, Hofkaplanei, and a notable 1609 Renaissance high altar in its Trinity Church—now the parish church—it underwent Baroque updates in 1748 and served various roles including a post-WWII agricultural school.
Acquired in 1975 by entrepreneur Paul Eberhard Schwenk and renovated into a conference hotel and restaurant until late 2022, the private property allows courtyard access but no interior tours, overlooking the Eyach valley near landmarks like the Römerturm.
