Schloss Hochaltingen is a historic castle located in the village of Hochaltingen, part of Fremdingen in Bavaria, Germany. The main building was constructed in 1551 and later became the summer residence of the Princes of Oettingen-Spielberg, who owned the estate from 1764 to 1899. The castle is a three-wing complex surrounded by the remains of a former moat and landscaped grounds. It is known for its elegant architecture, historic chapel, and impressive hall decorated with nearly 200 coats of arms reflecting the region’s noble heritage. After being sold to the Dillingen Franciscan Sisters in 1899, the castle served as a school and later as a care home. Since 1997, it has been owned by the Teutonic Order and continues to be used as a residential care facility, preserving both its historical character and community role.
