Schloss Hüttenbach
Simmelsdorf, Germany, Germany
Schloss Hüttenbach is a Baroque castle located in the village of Hüttenbach, part of Simmelsdorf in Bavaria. Its origins trace back to a medieval moated castle associated with the local Lords of Hüttenbach, who were first mentioned in historical records in the 12th century. Parts of the original fortifications, including sections of the moat, still survive today. The present castle was largely built in 1766 by Carl Dietrich Lochner, replacing much of the older fortress with an elegant Baroque residence. The Lochner family owned the estate for centuries, and the castle became an important local landmark. Today, Schloss Hüttenbach is a protected historic monument known for its impressive mansard roof and well-preserved architecture. Extensive restoration work in the late 20th century helped preserve the building, making it one of the notable heritage sites in the Nürnberger Land region.
