Schloss Kleinniedesheim
Kleinniedesheim, Germany, Germany
Schloss Kleinniedesheim is a late Baroque and early Classical four-winged palace in the small village of Kleinniedesheim, Rhein-Pfalz-Kreis, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, originally built between 1733 and 1735 by Jakob Joseph von Stefne, a Cologne privy councillor, as his residence.
Remodeled and expanded around 1785 by merchant Johann Friedrich Schultze in a late Baroque-Classical style, it features a courtyard with a raised western terrace leading to a landscaped garden highlighted by a iconic round neoclassical pavilion designed by architect Johann Georg Christian Hess, now used as the local registry office.
Passed to the Gagern family after Stefne's heirs sold it, where statesman Hans Christoph Ernst von Gagern was born in 1766, the privately owned complex today serves partly as a municipal hall and residence, preserving its rusticated facades, central tower with mansard roof, and historical significance in the Palatinate wine region.
