Schloss Königseggwald
Königseggwald, Germany, Germany
Schloss Königseggwald is a private residential palace in the center of the village of Königseggwald in the Ravensburg district of Baden‑Württemberg, southern Germany, built under the princely House of Königsegg‑Aulendorf between about 1765 and 1770.
It stands on the site of an older medieval predecessor, likely a small religious or noble compound, and was designed with advice from the French architect Pierre Michel d’Ixnard, giving it a refined, late‑Baroque appearance. The building is a simple three‑story U‑shaped structure with a white façade, green shutters, and a hipped roof bordered by a balustrade, stretching about 42 meters in length and 18 meters in width.
Today Schloss Königseggwald is still the private home of the gräflichen (countly) family of Königsegg‑Aulendorf and is not open to the public, with its grounds and park strictly off‑limits to visitors, so it is mainly encountered as a quiet, behind‑closed‑gates heritage building in the middle of the small Oberschwabian village.
