Schloss Malmsbach

Schwaig, Germany, Germany

Schloss Malmsbach is a former moated manor house in the Malmsbach district of Schwaig near Nuremberg, Bavaria. The estate originally belonged to the Lords of Malmsbach and was sold to the Burgraves of Nuremberg in 1323, becoming part of the region’s medieval noble landscape. The manor was destroyed during the First Margrave War in 1449 but was later rebuilt and owned by several prominent Nuremberg patrician families. Over the following centuries, it underwent various renovations and alterations. Most of the castle buildings were demolished after 1835, and today only parts of the original complex remain, including sections of the surrounding wall, the moat, and the historic gatehouse. Although privately owned, Schloss Malmsbach remains an important reminder of the area's medieval and noble heritage.
