Schloss Mariakirchen

Arnstorf, Germany, Germany

---

Schloss Mariakirchen is a picturesque moated castle in the Arnstorf district of Mariakirchen, Bavaria.

Built in 1550 by Georg von Closen and Barbara von Notthafft on the site of an earlier medieval water fortress, it is one of the region’s notable Renaissance castles and still retains elements of its historic moat system. Over the centuries, the castle passed through several noble families, including the von Pfetten family and the Counts von Deym, who owned it from 1848 until 2002.

The complex was expanded and renovated over time, gaining features such as a baroque chapel, courtyard fountain, and brewery-related buildings. Today, Schloss Mariakirchen has been carefully restored and serves as a venue for events, conferences, weddings, and cultural activities. Together with its hotel, brewery, and beer garden, it combines historic architecture with modern hospitality, making it a popular destination in Lower Bavaria.
