Schloss Mattsies is a historic castle in the village of Mattsies, part of Tussenhausen in Bavaria’s Unterallgäu region.

Its origins date back to the early 13th century, and it was first mentioned in records in 1246. The castle served as the seat of several noble families and played an important role in the local history of the region. Over the centuries, the castle was damaged and rebuilt multiple times, including after a fire ordered by Emperor Frederick III in 1456 and again during the German Peasants’ War in 1525.

Much of the present structure dates from the 16th century, with later additions from the 19th and early 20th centuries. Today, Schloss Mattsies is a protected historic monument and remains privately owned. Its prominent hilltop location, medieval tower, and blend of architectural styles make it one of the most distinctive historic landmarks in the Tussenhausen area.
