Schloss Moggenbrunn
Meeder, Germany, Germany
Schloss Moggenbrunn is a historic former moated castle located in the village of Moggenbrunn, part of Meeder in Upper Franconia, Bavaria.
The estate dates back to the early 14th century and was originally owned by the noble von Kemmaten family, who later expanded it into a fortified water castle. Much of the present building took shape during the 16th century and has remained largely unchanged despite numerous changes of ownership over the centuries.
The castle survived the Thirty Years’ War and retains characteristic features such as its rectangular structure, moat, and historic staircase tower. Today, Schloss Moggenbrunn is privately owned and stands as an important example of Franconian noble architecture. Surrounded by a small park and approached by an old chestnut-lined avenue, it remains a distinctive landmark and an important part of the cultural heritage of the Meeder region.
