Schloss Münchsdorf

Roßbach, Germany, Germany

---

Schloss Münchsdorf is a historic castle located in the village of Münchsdorf, part of the municipality of Roßbach in Lower Bavaria.

The estate has medieval origins and was owned over the centuries by several noble families, including the Counts of Ortenburg, the Seiboldsdorf family, the Mandels, and later the Barons of Aretin. The original fortified castle suffered damage and decline over time, particularly during the Thirty Years’ War.

The medieval complex was eventually replaced, and the present building largely took shape during renovations and rebuilding in the 19th century. Archaeological records indicate that the earlier castle included defensive features such as a moat, walls, and a fortified courtyard. Today, Schloss Münchsdorf remains an important architectural landmark of the region.
