Schloss Neuburg
Neuburg an der Kammel, Germany, Germany
Schloss Neuburg is a Renaissance castle that stands on a hill above the market town of Neuburg an der Kammel in Bavaria, Germany. Built between 1562 and 1567 by Hans Christoph Vöhlin and his wife Veronika von Freyberg on the site of an older medieval castle, it is one of the region’s best-preserved Renaissance estates. The castle complex includes a main residence, a chapel, a gate tower, courtyards, and historic walls, creating a striking landmark that dominates the town’s skyline. Although it suffered damage during the Thirty Years’ War, it was rebuilt and later modernized while preserving its historic character. Today, Schloss Neuburg is privately owned and serves as a venue for cultural events, exhibitions, weddings, and other gatherings. Its elegant architecture, scenic setting, and rich history make it one of the most notable heritage sites in the Günzburg district.
