Verified Schloss Paretz

Ketzin, Germany, Germany

Schloss Paretz is a graceful early Neoclassical palace in the village of Paretz, part of Ketzin in Brandenburg, Germany.

It was built between 1797 and 1804 for the future Prussian King Frederick William III and his wife, Queen Luise, as a peaceful country retreat away from the formal life of the royal court. Often called the “Palace of Quiet in the Countryside,” Schloss Paretz became a symbol of simple family life and rural elegance.

Designed by architect David Gilly, the palace and surrounding village were carefully planned to blend harmoniously with the landscape and reflect contemporary ideals of comfort, nature, and simplicity. Today, the restored palace operates as a museum, allowing visitors to explore historic rooms, original decorative elements, and the story of Queen Luise and the Prussian royal family.
