Schloss Reitzenstein

Issigau, Germany, Germany

---

Schloss Reitzenstein is a historic castle overlooking the village of Reitzenstein, now part of Issigau in Upper Franconia, Bavaria.

It is closely associated with the noble von Reitzenstein family, whose ancestral seat was first documented in the 14th century, though the family's connection to the site may date back even earlier. The present castle complex was largely built between 1740 and 1765 and later expanded and remodeled in the late 19th century.

Over the centuries, it served as an important noble residence and administrative center for the surrounding area. Set above the Issig Valley and surrounded by a historic park that is now protected as a natural monument, Schloss Reitzenstein remains one of the region’s most notable aristocratic landmarks. Its elegant architecture, long family history, and scenic setting make it an important part of Issigau’s cultural heritage.
