Schloss Seyfriedsberg
Ziemetshausen, Germany, Germany
Schloss Seyfriedsberg is a historic castle located about 3 kilometers south of Ziemetshausen in Bavaria, Germany.
The site was first mentioned in 1227 and originated as a medieval fortress built under Bishop Siegfried III of Rechberg, from whom the castle derives its name. Over the centuries, it passed through the hands of several noble families and was gradually transformed into the impressive castle seen today. The present complex consists of a three-story main building, additional wings, and a large enclosed courtyard.
Extensive renovations and expansions in the 19th century gave the castle much of its current appearance. Although Schloss Seyfriedsberg is privately owned and not open to the public, it is well known for its surrounding forest botanical park, established in 1848. The park contains rare trees and shrubs from around the world, including giant sequoias, ginkgo trees, and historic rhododendrons, and is freely accessible to visitors throughout the year.
