Schloss Sommersdorf
Burgoberbach, Germany, Germany
Schloss Sommersdorf is a historic moated castle in the village of Sommersdorf, part of Burgoberbach in Bavaria. The site originated as a fortified water castle in the late 14th century, built by the noble von Eyb family, and the village itself was first mentioned in historical records in 1208. In 1549, the estate was acquired by the von Crailsheim family, who remain closely associated with it today. Surrounded by a moat, defensive walls, towers, and a historic castle church, the castle is a well-preserved example of Franconian aristocratic architecture and heritage. Today, Schloss Sommersdorf is privately owned and continues to be inhabited by members of the von Crailsheim family.
