Schloss Stopfenheim
Ellingen, Germany, Germany
Schloss Stopfenheim is a historic Baroque moated castle located in the village of Stopfenheim, near Ellingen in Bavaria, Germany. Built in 1716 by architect Franz Keller for the Teutonic Order, it stands on the foundations of an earlier medieval water castle and originally served as the order’s administrative residence in the area. The castle is arranged around a rectangular courtyard and was once surrounded by a moat. Its architecture features a four-wing layout, decorative coats of arms, and elements that reflect its connection to the Teutonic Order and the region’s noble history. After serving as a parish house for many years, the property passed into private ownership and underwent restoration.
