Schloss Theisenort

Küps, Germany, Germany

---

Schloss Theisenort is a historic castle complex in the village of Theisenort, part of Küps in Upper Franconia, Bavaria.

The site has been associated with the noble von Redwitz family since at least the 13th and 14th centuries and developed into an important local seat of power. The original hilltop castle stood on a spur overlooking the surrounding countryside and was later connected by a bridge to a newer castle building completed in 1539.

Although much of the medieval fortress has disappeared, parts of the fortifications, walls, and the distinctive gatehouse known as the “Alte Wache” have survived and remain notable landmarks. Today, Schloss Theisenort is valued for its historical significance and picturesque setting. The preserved defensive structures and architectural features provide insight into the region’s noble history and the long influence of the von Redwitz family in the area.
