Schloss Töging

Dietfurt, Germany, Germany

---

Schloss Töging is a historic castle in the village of Töging, now part of Dietfurt an der Altmühl in Bavaria.

Its origins date back to the Middle Ages, when it served as the residence of the noble Schenken von Töging family, who were closely connected to the regional rulers of Hirschberg. The present castle was largely rebuilt around 1480 on the site of an earlier fortified residence. The castle later became the administrative seat of the Prince-Bishopric of Eichstätt and remained an important local center for centuries.

Although parts of the original four-wing complex, including the main tower, were lost over time, significant sections of the structure survived. After a long period of decline, the castle was acquired by the city of Dietfurt in 1985 and carefully restored. Today, Schloss Töging is a prominent landmark that serves as a venue for events and community activities, preserving an important part of the region’s cultural heritage.
