Schloss Unterknöringen is a historic castle located in the village of Unterknöringen, part of Burgau in Bavaria’s Günzburg district.

The site traces its origins to a moated castle first documented in 1146, and it was long associated with the noble Lords of Knöringen, who lived there until the 15th century. In 1750, the estate was acquired by Johann Anton von Freyberg-Eisenberg, and the castle has remained in the possession of the Freyberg family ever since.

The current building is a three-story rectangular manor house surrounded by a large park with a pond, reflecting its role as a noble country residence rather than a fortress. The castle underwent significant restoration in the early 2000s, including renovation of the building, park, and associated structures. Today, Schloss Unterknöringen stands as a well-preserved example of Bavarian aristocratic heritage and remains a notable landmark in the Burgau area.
