Schloss Unternzenn is a historic castle in the village of Unternzenn, part of Obernzenn in Bavaria. Originally built as a moated castle, it was first mentioned in historical records in 1445 and was later expanded and remodeled several times, particularly during the 16th and 18th centuries. The castle has long been associated with the noble von Seckendorff-Aberdar family and remains one of their traditional family seats. Over the centuries, the building evolved into a three-winged residence surrounded by parkland, with notable additions including Baroque modifications and later architectural features. Today, Schloss Unternzenn is privately owned and can generally only be viewed from the outside. Ongoing preservation and restoration efforts help maintain this important cultural landmark, which reflects the region’s aristocratic and architectural heritage.
