Schloss Weingartsgreuth
Wachenroth, Germany, Germany
Schloss Weingartsgreuth is a historic Baroque country castle located in the village of Weingartsgreuth, part of Wachenroth in Bavaria. The estate was acquired by Georg Marschalk von Ebneth in 1574, who built the first castle on the site. After suffering damage during the Thirty Years’ War, the present Baroque palace was constructed beginning in 1705 on the foundations of the earlier building. The castle later passed to the noble Seckendorff family through marriage in 1726 and has remained associated with them ever since. It is known for its distinctive architectural design, a historic Protestant castle chapel, and a large landscaped park that evolved from an 18th-century garden into an English-style landscape park. Today, Schloss Weingartsgreuth is a privately owned cultural landmark that hosts events, exhibitions, concerts, and garden fairs. Its picturesque setting on the edge of the Steigerwald region makes it one of the most charming historic estates in northern Bavaria.
