Schloss Wertingen is a historic double-castle complex located on the edge of the old town of Wertingen in Bavaria, Germany. Originally built in 1354 by the Augsburg patrician Johann Langenmantel, it was later expanded by the Pappenheim family, who added distinctive round towers and a larger adjoining palace wing in the 17th century. Surrounded by a deep moat, the castle served for centuries as the seat of local rulers, courts, and administrative offices. Its architecture reflects several periods of development, combining medieval foundations with later Renaissance and Baroque influences. Today, the restored castle is owned by the city of Wertingen and functions as the headquarters of the local municipal administration. It also houses the town’s local history museum, making it both an important cultural site and one of Wertingen’s most recognizable landmarks.
