Schloss Wonfurt is a historic moated castle in the village of Wonfurt in Bavaria’s Haßberge region. The present building dates largely to the 16th century and was later given Baroque features. Designed around a rectangular courtyard with four round corner towers, it is one of the few surviving moated castles in the area. Over the centuries, the castle passed through the hands of several noble families, including the Fuchs, Seckendorff, and later the von Bismarck family. Although it fell into severe disrepair and suffered fire damage in the 20th century, extensive restoration saved the complex and preserved its historic character. Today, Schloss Wonfurt is privately owned and serves as a residential and cultural property. Surrounded by parkland and traces of its former moat, it remains one of the most distinctive architectural landmarks in the Main and Haßberge region.
