Schloss Wurzach
Bad Wurzach, Germany, Germany
Schloss Wurzach, also known as Schloss Bad Wurzach, is a large Baroque castle in the center of the spa town of Bad Wurzach in the Ravensburg district of Baden‑Württemberg, southern Germany.
Built between 1723 and 1728 for the princely Waldburg‑Zeil‑Wurzach line, it is a U‑shaped, three‑winged residence set around a courtyard and connected to a park, replacing and partly incorporating an older medieval castle on the same site.
The building is now owned by the Stiftung Kulturdenkmal Schloss Bad Wurzach and houses elderly‑care housing, a high school, a care‑training school, and parts used for events and conferences, while its magnificent Baroque staircase hall remains a cultural highlight and even serves as the town’s standesamt. The castle is open to the public on guided tours and is a key landmark in the town’s history and tourism.
