Schlosshotel Rothenbuch is a historic castle hotel located in the village of Rothenbuch in the Spessart region of Bavaria. The site was first mentioned in documents in 1318, and the present castle was rebuilt in 1567 by the Mainz Elector Daniel Brendel von Homburg as a moated hunting lodge and administrative center for the surrounding area. Over the centuries, the castle served various roles, including a regional government seat and later a residence for Franciscan nuns, who operated a children's home there until 1987. After a period of decline, the property was acquired and carefully restored by private owners in the 1990s. Today, the castle operates as the Schlosshotel Rothenbuch, combining historic architecture with modern hospitality. Surrounded by the forests of the Spessart Nature Park, it is known for its picturesque setting, preserved water features, and centuries of regional history.
