Schwaiger Schloss

Schwaig, Germany, Germany

---

Schwaiger Schloss is a historic castle located in Schwaig, just east of Nuremberg in Bavaria, Germany.

The estate originated as a manor house in the 16th century and was owned over the centuries by several prominent Nuremberg patrician families, including the Waldstromer family, who carried out major renovations in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. The castle experienced periods of damage and rebuilding throughout its history, including during regional conflicts such as the Thirty Years' War.

After passing through private ownership, it was acquired by the local municipality in 1972 and underwent extensive restoration, completed in 1992. Today, Schwaiger Schloss serves as a cultural and community venue, hosting events, exhibitions, weddings, and the popular annual Schlossfest held in its courtyard. It remains one of Schwaig’s most notable historic landmarks and an important part of the region’s heritage.
