Sedgwick County Extension Arboretum

The Sedgwick County Extension Arboretum in Wichita, Kansas, was established in 1994 on the grounds of the Sedgwick County Extension Education Center at 7001 W. 21st North.
It covers about 24 acres and features nearly 300 labeled trees representing species adapted to south central Kansas, alongside demonstration gardens of vegetables, flowers, and ornamental grasses.
The arboretum is maintained by enthusiastic Extension Master Gardeners and follows xeriscape principles to promote water-wise landscaping. It is open daily from dawn to dusk with paved, wheelchair-accessible walking paths suitable for visitors with pets on leashes. The arboretum serves as a botanical and educational resource, offering tours, seasonal programs, and a relaxing natural space for the community.
