Seoul Grand Park Botanical Gardens

Gwacheon, South Korea, South Korea

Seoul Grand Park Botanical Gardens is a large public greenhouse and arboretum located inside Seoul Grand Park in Gwacheon, just south of Seoul, and it serves as one of the biggest accessible indoor plant collections in the capital region. Opened on May 1, 1985, the facility covers about 2,825 square meters and was registered in 2015 as Seoul’s first public arboretum under Korean law, with later designation as a national forest life resource management site in 2016. The botanical garden is organized into distinct exhibition zones, including a tropical and foliage plant hall filled with palms, fruit trees, and other evergreen species that create an exotic atmosphere, a cactus and succulent hall displaying hundreds of unusual forms adapted to dry conditions, and separate areas for carnivorous plants, ferns, and Western orchids, together holding around 928 species and more than 20,000 individual specimens. Visitors can explore these (greenhouse) sections daily from 9:00 to 17:30, walking through carefully arranged displays that show plants from different climates and ecological groups, while the larger Seoul Grand Park complex around it offers a zoo, theme gardens, an amusement park, museums, and forest trails, making the botanical gardens part of a broader nature and family recreation destination.
