Skierbieszów is a village in southeastern Poland's Lublin Voivodeship, Zamość County, serving as the seat of Gmina Skierbieszów along the Wolica River valley amid Roztocze landscapes.

First mentioned around 1428 when King Władysław Jagiełło granted it to Chełm bishops, it received German law town privileges in 1453 under Bishop Jan Krasz and again in 1494 from King John I Albert, functioning as a bishopric residence with weekly markets and fairs until losing city status, featuring a medieval castle likely from the 14th century whose ruins supplied stone for the 18th-century Renaissance-Baroque Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary consecrated in 1743.

A key episcopal seat second to Kumów with an 18th-century rezydencja, it endured 17th-century wars, 1942 Nazi expulsion under Operation Zamość (renamed Heidenstein), and WWII losses before Polish repopulation, now thriving on woodworking, food processing, and agrotourism around its historic church, former hospital site, and bishopric remnants.
