Srebrna Góra Fortress (Twierdza Srebrna Góra), located in the village of Srebrna Góra in Lower Silesia's Owl Mountains, Poland, is an 18th-century Prussian mountain stronghold built between 1765 and 1777 on orders of King Frederick the Great to defend Silesia against Austrian incursions, designed by engineer Ludwig Wilhelm Regeler atop strategic hills like Warowna Góra. Comprising a central Donżon Fort with 151 casemates, six interconnected forts, bastions, tunnels, and self-sufficient facilities such as wells, bakeries, and armories to sustain 3,756 soldiers for a year-long siege, it withstood a 1807 Napoleonic assault under Jérôme Bonaparte—its only battle—and was decommissioned by 1867. Recognized as a Polish Historic Monument since 2004, the remarkably preserved complex now functions as a museum, tourist site with guided tours, restaurants, and events, celebrated as one of Europe's finest surviving pre-modern fortifications.
