Stolper Turm
Angermünde, Germany, Germany
The Stolper Turm, also known as the “Grützpott,” is a striking medieval tower in the village of Stolpe, part of Angermünde in Brandenburg.
Built in the late 12th century as part of a fortified castle complex, it served both defensive and residential purposes and is one of the best-known landmarks in the Uckermark region. With an exterior diameter of about 18 meters, the tower is considered one of the largest and strongest medieval tower keeps in Germany.
Although most of the original castle has disappeared, the massive brick tower and surrounding earthworks have survived and remain impressive examples of medieval architecture. Today, visitors can climb the tower, explore exhibitions about its history, and enjoy panoramic views over the Lower Oder Valley National Park. Its combination of historical significance, local legends, and scenic surroundings makes it one of the area's most popular attractions.
