The building sits on a large platform surrounded by terraces that serve as pedestrian areas, blending beautifully with the waterfront setting. Construction began in 1959 but faced many challenges, including structural difficulties and rising costs, leading to Utzon’s resignation before the project was completed.

Despite this, the final design remains true to his vision and has earned worldwide acclaim. The Opera House hosts a wide range of cultural events and attracts millions of visitors every year. Recognized for its cultural and architectural significance, it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2007 and continues to be one of the most photographed and celebrated landmarks in the world.
